![]() We are committed to helping farmers, industry and local communities access cost-effective energy and water. Impacts Solar is a renewable energy company, developing technology and projects for agriculture, industry and communities. Our proprietary solar thermal technologies concentrate and capture the heat of the sun to provide low and medium temperature solar heat for powering large-scale industrial and agricultural processes, water pumping, water supply, irrigation, mine dewatering and desalination. We replace conventional off-grid generation equipment with cost-effective solar thermal technologies to produce direct mechanical power. The process is more efficient than conventional PV and offers cost reductions for regional and remote areas where traditional fossil-fuel sources are costly and difficult to deliver. Our project delivery capability is built on more than 25 years of international experience in the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects. Technical veracity, smart partnerships and project management expertise is at the heart of the Impacts Solar mix. Our solutions are:
Perflection
Impacts Solar’s patented PerflectionTM Solar Thermal Collector captures and concentrates solar energy to provide medium temperature process heat, to power a wide range of agricultural, industrial and municipal processes including irrigation, water supply and desalination. PerflectionTM is particularly suited to where it is needed most, in regional and remote locations where traditional energy sources are costly and difficult to deliver. MED Desalination Impacts Solar has partnered with the University of Western Australia (UWA) in collaboration with the National Centre of Excellence in Desalination (NCEDA) to develop and deliver solar-powered MED desalination solutions. Impacts’ Solar Desalination and Power Plant Design won an Australian Innovation Challenge award in 2013. The solar desalination design utilises UWA/NCEDA’s Multiple Effect Distillation (MED) technology that exploits low-grade and waste heat (75-100ºC) for improved efficiency desalination and cascaded MED effects for an improved freshwater yield of 25-40%. The MED technology is powered by a field of Impacts’ PerflectionTM Solar Thermal Collectors. The solar-powered MED system is more environmentally benign than standard Reverse Osmosis (RO) desalination, requiring only a fraction of the electrical power consumed by large-scale RO plants, slashing the ongoing operating costs of a desalination plant. The technology has significant implications for the remediation of Coal Seam Gas (CSG) affected water and the treatment of effluent and riverine salinity, and is also suitable for smaller applications such as on-farm water purification and remote community water supply. SunTap Impacts Solar has developed the Sun-TapTM Solar Water Pumping system in response to the high energy cost associated with irrigated agriculture and pumping operations. According to UN Water “about 8% of the global energy generation is used for pumping, treating and transporting water to various consumers”. When compared to other energy sources, Sun-TapTM can bring significant energy cost savings over the life of a pump for large-scale pumping operations. Sun-TapTM uses Impacts Solar’s PerflectionTM Solar Thermal Collector to capture solar heat for powering a low-speed, energy-efficient turbine that directly drives large fixed pumping systems.
